Kwani Short Story Workshop Course 22nd June 2010

Kwani Trust is pleased to announce the holding of the Kwani short story competition workshop between Tuesday 23rd – 26th June 2010 at the Lenana Conference Center. Up to 12 writers will attend the 4-day workshop facilitated by Kwani editors, the judges from the short story competition and other African short story writers. The participating writers were long-listed in the recently concluded Kwani short story competition.
The workshop will involve lectures, interactive seminars and practical sessions in elements of short fiction and will feature guest speakers Tom Odhiambo, Jackie Lebo, Muthoni Garland, Wambui Mwangi and Nigerian writer, Igoni Barrett.

• Wednesday, 23rd June 2010 – Introduction, Plot, Style and Voice – Billy Kahora and David Kaiza
• Thursday, 24th June 2010 – Description and Setting – 9.30-10.15 a.m Igoni Barett, 10.30-11.15 a.m – Jackie Lebo.
• Friday, 25th June 2010, Characterization – 9.30-10.15 a.m, Tom Odhiambo 10.30-11.15 a.m– Muthoni Garland
• Saturday, 26th June – 2.30-4.00 p.m Conclusion – Parselelo Kantai/ Wambui Mwangi
