How things change...once upon a time, whenever I took off on flights of fancy and started engaging in loud monologue with the voices in my head or conversing with the gods...they'd stop and stare, then one would whisper..."ah that's Bwaya, he's a poet." so the fact that now you'd expect the words "I am a poet" to be met with awe is funny because those three words were synonymous with the phrase "I am mad."

the very essence of poetry may be abused in it's use, but poets should have one thing in mind, we should struggle to redeem poetry. poetry should feed mind and soul, poetry should wash away our tears, poetry should connect humanity, so poetry should portray our heart, mind and soul. in this way we should connect, we are part of humanity.

@ Sam, nice work. Made me sit back and ask myself so many questions.

Samuel has a fantastic awakening - the poetry and literature we did in school is to blame - where the exciting poems had the rhymes, and we got lots of encouragement if we could write like so too. The audience also wants poetry for entertainment than for reflection therefore hoping to hear flowing words (as Khan puts it-floetry).

I think Once a poet matures, his/her poems will, mature to more than mere words.

Thank you Samuel for that awakening call - continue to keep all the poets on toes.
