URGENT - Proofreader needed IMMEDIATELY — NO LONGER

Thanks to all for the interest we received - the position has been filled.

Kwani Trust immediately requires a proofreader to work on large amounts of fiction, essays, creative non-fiction and interviews that are already edited but require a final ‘eye’ before publishing to ensure nothing has been missed by the copy editor.

The proofreader would carefully check the ‘proofs’ (which show how the final pages will be laid out), using either a printed (’hard’) copy or an on-screen version.

Main tasks include checking that:

-there are no spelling mistakes
-all the material is included and is in the right place
-page numbers are in the right order
-the document follows the approved ’sensibility’
-there are no confusing word, column or page breaks
-illustrations have the right captions and relate to the text
-Before marking any changes that could have a major effect on overall layout, you would discuss them with the Kwani? editors – at this stage the changes could result in unacceptable costs or delay.

Qualifications and Experience
We are more interested in experience than qualifications. Previous experience in publishing, journalism or other related areas will be a bonus. Attention to detail is a must.
