Kwani? Sponsors Three Writers to The Writivism Festival12/06/2015
Kwani Trust will sponsor 3 Kenyan writers to attend Writivism, the new Ugandan Literary Festival. Celebrating its 3rd year, Writivism’s theme in 2015 is: Engaging the Makerere Literary Tradition: Conversations across generations of African writers.
The three writers chosen to represent Kwani? at Writivism are Dalle Abraham, Beverly Ochieng and Richard Oduor. All three attended Kwani’s Annual Creative Writing Workshop in 2015 and will feature in different forthcoming Kwani? publications including the Kwani? Journal and the Kwani? Poetry Anthology.
The Kenyan writers will join Writivism’s line up of African writers, academics, bloggers, journalists, critics, reviewers and publishers including Tsitsi Dangaremba, John Nagenda, Mukoma Ngugi, Michaela Wrong, Chika Unigwe, Doreen Baingana and prize-winning Ugandan novelist, Jennifer Makumbi whose debut novel, Kintu won and was published under the 2013 Kwani Manuscript Project.
Kwani? has previously been represented at Writivism by Kwani Managing Editor, Billy Kahora, Jennifer Makumbi and Kenyan poet, Clifton Gachagua.
